Jeroen van Delft

"People sometimes ask me if I have a particular style as a director. Well, looking at all my work I can't say I do. Some productions have been dark and brooding, others have had a featherlight touch and were whimsical. It all depends on the show and what that show needs to make an impact. That can mean colorful and uncomplicated or oppositely steam punk and decaying. But what always rings through is a central role for the complexity of human emotions, the desperate need for people to communicate and the necessity of telling this story."

Directing

Simultaneous to his stage career, Jeroen started directing. At first in his own theater group, specialized in theatrical concerts of "forgotten musicals" like Kurt Weill's Lady In The Dark, Frederic Norton's Chu Chin Chow or Lionel Monckton's A Country Girl. Soon he expanded his directing work to full size productions. His nearly 60 stage works encompass a great variety of musical and visual styles and Musical Theater genres, from classics as Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella or Irving Berlin's Call Me Madam, musical plays like Wright, Forrest and Yeston's Grand Hotel (Musical Award for Best Direction) and Sondheim's Company, A Little Night Music, Sunday In The Park With George and Pacific Overtures, to modernistic pieces like Spring Awakening  and  Michael John LaChiusa's Bernarda Alba, often taking on the role of producer as well. Jeroen also worked as segment director for Stage Entertainment's Holiday On Ice, directed choir concerts and the tours of solo artists.
